Understanding Love INC

Often there is a misconception about Love INC . The danger is that we would be seen as another agency in the Newberg community.

In actuality, Love INC is YOU, the Church.

Love INC is the administer of your ministry. We connect the churches to people that find themselves in need.

Why is this important? It is important that you understand that Love INC would not exist without the involvement of the churches (YOU). Needs aren’t being met primarily within the walls of Love INC. They are met in your church, in your neighbor’s hearts, in your backyard.

Just this year, one church raised over $10,000 to install a new HVAC system in the women’s shelter. Not only are the women much warmer/cooler, the utility savings will be significant!

Because a member of a church was a regular volunteer with the shelter, their church could easily ask how they could participate. Your involvement connects your church with the transformation happening in our community.

Just in the last two months, five people stepped out and started volunteering in the Clearinghouse. Six people are regularly investing their time with the women in the shelter. Fifteen people are mentoring participants in Relational Ministry. All from different churches, different denominations.

This is mobilizing the church. Christians like you are putting feet to their faith everyday.

Thank you for making 2019 another year of growth, development and hope. Thank you for answering Jesus’ call. Without you, we don’t exist.

New Interim Director, Yvette Heryford!

Friends of Love INC,

Every family, company & community has a culture.  It is written about in the professional world all the time today.  Companies are putting emphasis on determining what type of culture they want to create in order for employees to be happy and content in the workplace.

Have you ever considered that a community has a culture too?  As an active part of the community I have the privilege of connecting with many people...natives as well as people new to our little town of Newberg.  I often ask them what they have noticed about Newberg or the surrounding area so far, or what determined why they chose to live here.  In these conversations there is a consistent element that comes through: “Newberg feels different. It seems as though people care about each other here.” I just smile.

Yes indeed, the culture we enjoy here is unique. It is a group of individuals that cares about each other.  There is a strong presence of faith here...many churches that serve a variety of people, all finding a place that feels like home, where they can be discipled and developed into people attentive to the needs around them and the depravity of our hearts. Having a long history with the Love INC ministry, I have to believe that it has had a large influence on building this culture in our community.

As with any organization there are seasons—-seasons with various leaders who continue to carry the torch of the cause.  The Love INC board has been diligently searching for a new director to lead our ministry.  Our efforts have not produced a clear candidate during this process.  Understanding the negative effect this can have on the organization and seeing how difficult it is for everyone involved, we prayed and God has presented a solution.  The board has invited me to be the interim director of Love INC.

We often don’t get a sneak preview of God’s great plan, and I can honestly say, “I didn’t see this coming.” Yet it feels as natural as putting on my comfiest pair of shoes.

I have had the privilege of serving the ministry for over twelve years of the fifteen years Love INC has been active.  My volunteer experience has been broad—clearinghouse reception, intake interviews, Relational Ministry mentor, mentor trainer and support, class instructor, and monthly shelter hosts with my husband for over seven years.  Recently I was asked to join the board of directors, and as of this month I have stepped into the director position.  My professional background is as colorful as my volunteer experience. It includes real estate sales and business owner for over twenty years, and more recently, business consulting and career coaching.

There are two distinct elements that have had a profound impact in developing my relationship with Jesus: 1. Over 20 years of BSF bible study and 2. Serving through the Love INC ministry. I want to invite you to experience the same life changing experience.

In the brief time I have stepped into this position, my heart has been filled by once again seeing the impact that collaborated love can have on an individual’s life!  It is great to be back in the arms of the Love INC ministry.

“In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.  Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.”

-2 Timothy 2:20-22
