Working Together in Christ

Our residents at the Hesed House, our Transitional Living Program, came together and decided to organize a BBQ and potluck for our mentors, staff and Hesed House volunteers.

It started with a group trip to the grocery store where they selected food to prepare for the dinner. They made the most delicious homemade hamburgers, a chocolate cake plus lots of other goodies. We had two grills going and set up chairs in a circle in the yard. They opened the dinner in prayer and led a group question by asking everyone present to share what their favorite book or movie is.

As the director of the program, I was commenting to my husband on the way home, and shared that I think that was one of the most special experiences I've had with the ladies since starting my role at the Hesed House. It was such a beautiful, rich, and fun time together.

“And if one member suffers, all the parts share the suffering; if one member is honored, all rejoice with it. Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function].” - 1 Corinthians 12:26,27
